What to do after a company vehicle crash
A short checklist. The first few days matter most.

At the scene
- Call 911 and ask for a police report.
- Photograph the vehicle: company name, logo, DOT or fleet number, plates.
- Get the driver's name, license, insurance and employer.
- Ask witnesses for their names and numbers.
In the days after
- Get medical care and follow through.
- Keep receipts, bills and a list of missed work.
- Don't give a recorded statement to the company's insurer.
- Don't post about the crash online.
Evidence the company controls
GPS data, dash cameras, dispatch records and maintenance logs belong to the company. We send a letter asking them to preserve it before it's lost.
